Start with function

If circulation, storage, appliance locations, and cabinet configuration already serve the household, refinishing can deliver a significant visual change without rebuilding the entire room. If the underlying layout is the problem, a new coating cannot solve it.

Assess construction and condition

Doors, drawer fronts, face frames, edge profiles, previous coatings, water damage, delamination, grease contamination, and hardware all affect suitability. A proper assessment should identify repairs and test compatibility before the finish system is specified.

Understand the refinishing process

A durable result normally involves organized disassembly, labelling, cleaning, sanding, repairs, compatible primer, controlled fine-finish application, curing, and careful reassembly. It is a different workflow from rolling walls.

Compare the complete project

Replacement may introduce demolition, disposal, countertops, backsplash, plumbing, electrical, flooring repairs, and longer disruption. Refinishing has its own preparation and curing requirements. Compare both options around the desired result and total scope.
